When the fountain completed it's cycle I told them I would e-mail them copies of the pictures if they liked. I didn't have any thing to write with so I just said I don't do this for my day job, but you can e-mail me here and handed them my O'Reilly business card.
That's when I learned I work with the young man's mother. She was happy to get this picture in her e-mail the following day.

The folks over at Area417 are reporting more on the fiasco with the police and fire pensions in Springfield (that there probably won't be a pension). They've got a link up to a new flyer the Springfield Police Officers Association is distributing.
Area417 quoted a comment on a previous post on my blog discussing the Springfield Police which I noticed also includes a new comment, signed "A Springfield Cop."
"A Springfield Cop" apparently doesn't like Kara's attitude... Better slow down Kara! ;)

Pit Bull Ordinances being considered. I'm against any breed specific legislation and my sentiment was echoed many times in last nights meeting.
It's the owners, stupid.Just like children, dogs are a product of not only genetics but the environment and influences in which they are raised. Pictured here is Dobie, our 95 lb lap dog (seriously, he loves to lay in our laps for petting). I've never had a dog that was so sensitive. Dobie easily gets his feelings hurt even if we're scolding one of the other dogs.
That was the not-so-subtle message sent to Springfield City Council members Monday during a public hearing on a breed-specific ordinance targeting pit bulls.
Our Dobie-do isn't a pit bull, we don't know exactly what he is as we got him from the humane society, but he does resemble another breed with a bad wrap. It won't be long before they start considering other breeds.
By then though, we'll be moved out of Greene County! :)

Shameless plug - Geek Acres
I've enjoyed the whole blogging thing but it's always kind of bothered me that mine's just an on-line journal with no real focus or theme. I've got many hobbies but none that I wanted to focus a blog on or that I felt inspired enough to write about on a regular basis. My sixes of readers know that Jennifer and I have purchased some property in the country and will be moving soon so I decided to start a new blog focus on the life of a geek on a hobby farm. I'm calling it Geek Acres (clever, eh?) and I hope to build a neat little repository of things I learn on the farm that might help someone else find answers to the little challenges and problems we face. With focused content I'm hoping to attract advertisers with a little more relevancy. So don't forget to click on them, check out the products, and help support the effort.
