I have been looking for a way to meet other bloggers in Springfield. I have a personal blog or Mommy blog as so many people call them. Would this be something interesting for me or is this a "different" sort of meeting?

Meghann and I have "mommie blogs" so if we could be convinced to come out... Unfortunately my husband works nights and I don't really see myself in a bar with my 10 month old. Maybe if he is off on that particular night?

Well, it's at a bar and there will be drinking, but otherwise it's a friendly group. Last time it was Zach of Zachishere.com and I. We talked mostly photography. Normally Andy Cline of Rhetorica.net is there, playing the consumate reporter. I understand Mike Brothers, a columnist and feature writer of the News-Leader might join us as well. For a sampling of the conversation follow the link in this post to the last podcast:http://duanekeys.blogspot.com/2005/11/latest-springfield-bloggers-meeting.html

I think we talked about TV and Tivo on that podcast.

If we could meet at a resturant that serves drinks (non-smoking) I would definitely come on out. The smoke is the big thing that makes me not want to come to a bar. Having a drink and eating some appetizers or a meal while meeting new people sound good to me. Any chance of that happening, Duane?

I'm not the organizer, but I could bring it up at the next one. The smoke actually isn't too bad since PAP has high ceilings. And none of the blogging group smokes (that I can remember).

We've thought of attending a meeting of the Springfield Bloggers. I listened to a podcast of a meeting, however, and the emphasis was on drinking beer and getting laid (actual words). ("Our motto is "Drink and then adjourn.' ") It would be fun to meet other bloggers (I have a TON of questions) but, as a 66-year-old-female, I'm afraid I'd be VERY out of place at such a macho meeting!

I defintely don't remember "drinking beer and getting laid" which podcast was that?

For the folks I've met that would definately be out of character... well except for maybe one... (Curbstone Critic, I'm looking in your direction ;)

Regardless I'm sure it was in said in jest.

The backgrounds of the folks I've met so far include a journalism professor, a few yuppie IT people, a college guy, a retired scientist, etc. Definately not a "macho" meeting.

I'm definately open to a change in venue, which perhaps would also lead to a change in clientle...

I think it was the first podcast.

Perhaps we'll give it a try next week. I have nothing against drinking, mind you!
