...On the flip side, everyone can link "Damn Tasty!" to www.famousdaves.com, because, as you have guessed, they have some damn tasty food there (that's right, another vendor took me to lunch today as well).

Our Web Applications Team (WAT) attended the No Fluff Just Stuff Java Conference in St. Louis this last weekend. The conference was great. Just like the title says no fluff, no marketing people, just good solid information. My favorite speaker was Dave Thomas of the pragmaticprogrammer.com (not of the burger joint). I particularly enjoyed a session that focused on a less technical aspect of being a programmer entitled Herding Race Horses and Racing Sheep. The concepts in this presentation got me thinking the most.
The first half talks about the Dreyfus Model on learning and how different people of different levels of knowledge learn and process information differently. The second half focused on personal career development, and treating your own career like an investment. Good stuff. BTW: The title is misleading and should be something like "Don't herd race horses and race sheep".
Even without the conference the trip was well worth it, simply from a team building stand point. I think everyone got to know each other better and had a blast doing so. Any future visitors to St. Louis should definitely check out the City Museum. Amazing is the only work I can use to describe the place.

We've been working like crazy people to get my wife's home decor shop and my dad's auction house open soon. So far I've tested my skills at framing walls and hanging drywall. Things go much smoother when the right tools (power drills, chop saws, air nailers, etc.) are at hand, and when there are enough hands to use them. Having said that, anyone who wants to help out, feel free to step up.... whoa, whoa... not all at once now...

You know what's not fun? Jury duty is not fun. I've been in jury duty all week, hopefully today is the last day. It's been difficult not talking to anyone about the case so far...

So I thought I knew who to vote for and what party I was until I took the AOL/Time Presidential Match Test. Try it out, you may be suprised.

My faithful reader berated me for not updating my blog... So here goes some quick on-line updations.
Today is Jennifer and my first wedding anniversary. Every morning I wake up glad to know I'm married to the woman of my dreams!
Also of note, the City of Springfield plans on putting a street through our house. The neighborhood is up in arms, yadda yadda... All I know is we're not going to get the short end of this stick if we have anything to do about it.
Jennifer's brother James had a heart attack last month but is doing well now.
We went to Tupelo, Mississippi last weekend for the Tupelo Furniture Market show. Jennifer made some good contacts for her business. Which reminds me that we found a place to have said business! Our family will be putting in an auction house in the warehouse portion and Jennifer will run her shop out of the retail portion.
Three weekends ago we went to Grand Junction, Colorado. We'd never seen the Rocky Mountains before, now we've seen them from both sides!
